Vichy fabric, with its unmistakable checkered pattern, is a timeless fabric that has undoubtedly been rediscovered in recent times in many different areas; on the table, of course, but also in clothing and accessories, and, most notably, in home decor. We can speak of a true growing trend of followers: "Vichymania."
Gingham checks are in fashion and increasingly popular in many tablescapes. This fabric has made a strong comeback, taking center stage on our tables. Because the gingham check is much more versatile than we thought. Its crisp, clean appearance adds a touch of charm and nostalgia to any setting.
History of Vichy
Gingham has a rich history dating back centuries. Originating in the 17th century, the first gingham fabric was woven from cotton or linen and featured striped patterns. During the 18th century, gingham fabrics gained popularity in Europe, particularly in England and France. Gingham became synonymous with simplicity, durability, and affordability, making it a favorite choice for everyday clothing and home textiles.

Cases & More and the Vichy checks
Although gingham is often associated with quaint country kitchens and picnics in the park, we could say that gingham fabric has gone upmarket and we find it on beautiful tables that amaze us.
At Cases & More, we've embraced this print for its nostalgic charm and its ability to create an eclectic style that blends the past with the present, resurrecting wonderful, long-forgotten tableware. Many of our younger customers already appreciate this beautiful fabric and rely on it to decorate their tables on special occasions.
At Cases & More, we like to combine the gingham check with floral napkins, or with other traditional fabrics like Toile de Jouy, to create an unexpectedly elegant contrast. Of course, combining the gingham check with floral or "Cartujera" tableware leads to the creation of an irresistible tablescape that will leave no one indifferent.

Vichy fabric in the different Cases&More products
Tablecloths: Cases&More offers a complete range of gingham checks, in sizes and colors. In sizes, we offer standard gingham (1cm x 1cm); small gingham (0.5cm x 0.5cm); and XXL gingham (5cm x 5cm). The color range of gingham fabric is extensive, but at Cases&More, we offer a wide selection of gingham checks in different colors, chosen with different seasons in mind, as well as our favorite indoor and outdoor settings.
Napkins: Gingham cloth napkins can be combined with either a plain tablecloth or a tablecloth made of the same fabric. We also like to combine the same fabric with different sized squares. It adds a touch of originality and casualness to your table.
Table Runners: Gingham table runners are an elegant way to dress up your table, whether over another tablecloth or directly on your table. It's up to you, and you're sure to get it right!
Placemats: The Cases&More gingham placemats have been part of our collection since day one. They're a highly sought-after item due to their comfort and design. We make them in standard sizes (50cm x 35cm) because we've confirmed that this size will fit the entire dining set (plates, glasses, cutlery, bread plate, and napkins). However, they can be custom-made if you'd like.
Placemats: One of our favorite ways to add a special touch to our tables is to use placemats that contrast with our tablecloths, or with the color of our tables or placemats. Vichy placemats are ideal for those garden tables we start enjoying when the warmer weather arrives.
